The Windermere Valley Museum and Archives has eleven historic buildings to explore during the summer, and two floors of our main building to look through the winter. Younger (and older) visitors may enjoy one of our Scavenger Hunts, or our Stash of Diamonds challenge.
Location, Hours of Operation and Admission
The Museum is located at the top of the hill at 222 – 6th Ave in Invermere. Parking is along the street: if you have a larger rig, you can park in the empty lot between 7th and 6th Ave by the Food Bank.
- Summer Hours (June 1 – September 30): Open every day, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
- Winter Hours (October 1 – May 31): Open Saturday, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
You are welcome to tour the grounds and see the outside displays at any time. Our shaded picnic tables and scenic benches make for a good lunch or snack spot!
Admission is by donation. Donations help support and preserve heritage in the Windermere Valley through research, programming, and events.
Accessibility
- Most of the space (with the exception of upstairs) is accessible via walker. Boardwalks and the main building are stroller and wheelchair accessible: summer buildings have limited space to maneuver.
- Forgot your reading glasses? No problem: we have a collection that you can borrow from.
Policies and Restrictions
- Pets on a lease are welcome on the museum grounds. Please pick up after your pet.
- No Smoking in the museum or on the grounds.
