The Windermere Valley Museum is a community museum: since our earliest days it is the energy of our volunteers that have kept the museum going.
If you are interested in helping to preserve and present the history of the Windermere Valley, please consider signing up as a volunteer. We can almost always find something that fits your skills and interests! Here are some options:
Operations & Maintenance
- Handy-person tasks: We have eleven buildings to care for and maintain. Whether you’re handy with a hammer or a paint brush, please get in touch!
- Front-Desk Greeting: Share your enthusiasm for local history (and learn some along the way) by welcoming visitors and answering questions.
- Exhibit Care: The war against dust bunnies is a never-ending one. We always need reinforcements.
- Clean-Up Days: We have a volunteer work bee every spring to clean our buildings for summer. Keep an eye on our newsletter to learn about the next one.
Research & Archives
- Archival Inventory: Interested in old documents? Here’s your chance to look through things while also helping us out.
- Family Research Assistance: Use our newspaper collection and archival material to help dig into requests from the public for help with family history.
- Collections Research: Have a talent for researching old things? We have a lot of old things that can be dug into!
