Archival Photos and Darkroom

The Windermere Valley Museum houses an extensive photographic collection that may be of interest to researchers and the general public. We did host a fully operational darkroom and our photo expert provided reproduction services, but, now this volunteer has officially retired.  We are working to find a new way to deal with photo donations and requests for copies.  Stay tuned for news in the near future!

Archival Documents, Maps, Fonds

The Archives contain all types of history in the area between Canal Flats and Brisco, BC. Staff will guide you through the sources of information to help further your knowledge for the purpose of genealogy or other historical research.

The archives are housed in a waterproof, fireproof vault and include diaries, letters, business files, minute books and other archival material documenting the history of local first nations and pioneers.
Also in the collection are old maps and surveys of the region.

Archives Research and Viewing

The museum has limited staffing so if you wish to visit the archives or research other information in the museum, please call ahead to book an appointment. Your cooperation will allow us to give all the help and guidance you need for your project.  We do charge non-members a fee for research –  $15.00 first half hour: $12.00 for each additional half hour.  Photocopies are 25 cents a page.

Please call the museum (250-342-9769) or Marg (250-342-9434) or write to [email protected] to make an appointment for your research project.

We are happy to help – please contact us!
